As you may have heard, the government are changing the way funded childcare is being delivered. Previously, funded childcare was available for all 3 and 4 year-olds and available to eligible parents for 2 year-olds. Now the government want to be able to offer more funded childcare places for 2 year-olds and places for eligible families for children as young as 9 months old.
3 and 4 year-old funding
Currently, all parents with a child aged 3 or 4 will receive 15 hours of funded childcare a week. Eligible working parents will receive 30 hours of funded childcare a week.
2 year-old funding
From April 2024, eligible working parents of 2 year-olds will be able to access 15 hours childcare support a week.
Funding from 9 months
From September 2024, 15 hours childcare support will be extended to eligible working parents of children from the age of 9 months to 3 years old.
From September 2025, eligible working parents with a child from 9 months old up to school age will be entitled to 30 hours of childcare a week.
