Our environments

Ofsted recognises the importance of outdoor play and St Aidan’s is able to offer free access from the pre-school room to our outdoor area.

We have a covered area so that outdoors can be used all year round, making it an extension of the indoor area.

Children can then transfer learning from inside to outside and vice versa which helps reinforce their learning.

Areas include:

  • Quiet Areas
  • Digging Areas
  • Seating Areas for Picnics
  • Large Construction
  • Nature Area Including a Pond and Seating
  • Garden for Growing Flowers and Vegetables
  • Creative Play Areas

Our outdoor area promotes gross motor skill development featuring scooters, bikes, crate and tyres.

Through active play and exploration, children are encouraged to develop balance, coordination, and spatial awareness.

This dedicated space not only fosters physical growth but also instils a sense of adventure and independence as children navigate through various challenges and obstacles. At St Aidan’s, we prioritise outdoor experiences as integral components of a well-rounded early childhood education, fostering holistic development in a stimulating and inclusive environment.
