Pre-School

Our focus is learning through play, constructing knowledge through doing and discussing their ideas. To make this possible staff provide extensive resources, and opportunities to challenge and expand children’s existing knowledge identified through observations. The nursery routine provides lots of opportunities to introduce and reiterate, counting, colour and shape, name recognition, an awareness of letter and sound, manners, taking turns e.t.c.

The areas of the preschool room include;

• Messy play area for sand and water play and creative activities
• Quiet area for sleep, reading and rest times
• Construction
• Small world play

We work within a language rich environment with lots of focus on speech and communication. We use a combination of speech, makaton sign and widgets (basic line drawings) around the nursery to promote understanding for all children.
